New and improved features in EthoVision XT 17 include:
Software license. You can purchase EthoVision XT with a software license that makes it easier to use the software without worrying about losing or damaging the hardware key. You can choose to have your license coupled with one computer (named Fixed license) or with multiple computers (Floating license).
EthoVision XT uses new drivers for digital cameras:
Graphic cards (GPUs) for tracking with Deep learning. A few more graphics cards have been tested that can be used to track your subjects with Deep learning. Make sure that the graphics card is compatible and its software is updated. Tested cards include the NVIDIA Quadro P2000 and P2200, and the NVIDIA T1200.
Permutation option for Trial Control variables of random type. Imagine your Trial Control procedure includes a variable which produces random values at every repeat of a task. For example, to determine which sliding door must be activated in the current repeat. The Trial Control variable has a extra option, Permutation, which extracts a specific value only when the other values allowed within a range have been extracted in previous repeats.
Subrule repeat interval. Up to now you could have the software start a subrule repeat within 24 hours since the start of the previous repeat. Now you can specify a time period up to 99 hours 59 minutes 59 seconds. That is handy when you work with long protocols, for example when you define a task that must be repeated a number of times within a time period of more than 24 hours.
Import trials from other experiments. You can import trials from different experiments and analyze them as one data set. Use this function, for example, to merge identical experiments that control groups of PhenoTyper cages or DanioVision chambers.
Show and hide the body points in the Manual Scoring screen. Sometimes when you code events in the Manual Scoring screen you really need to view the nose and tail-base points detected by the software. Now that is possible.
Group charts: box plots with dots. When you choose a box-and-whiskers plot for group results, you have the extra option to display the original data points the statistics are based on.
Customize tracks. In several parts of the software, like in Detection Settings and in the Integrated Visualization, you can customize the thickness of the tracks and the size of the body points plotted.
Headers in the results table. The statistics results table has now headers for the independent variables.
If you use the Temperature Control Unit with DanioVision, you can find all information about this device in the DanioVision DVOC-0041 - Reference Manual.
The EthoVision XT 17 - Application Manual includes a new chapter about conducting calcium imaging experiments with EthoVision XT combined with Inscopix nVista/nVoke systems.
The Quick Start Guide for the Ugo Basile fear conditioning system has been incorporated in the EthoVision XT 17 - Application Manual.
To access the manuals, in the start menu look under Apps > Noldus > EthoVision XT 17 Other Documentation.
Track3D experiment templates. Two new templates have been added to the current list: one for a flight chamber and one for a water tank, both designed for experiments where you track subjects in 3D.
